A bit about me!
I’m Pippa, a canine behaviourist and trainer, with a specialism in spaniel training, based in Harrogate. These are my two best friends, Artemis, a 3-year-old Working Cocker Spaniel, and Lady a 14 year old Jack Russell.
Artemis has epilepsy in the form of focal seizures, a lifelong condition that is well-managed with medication. Lady has arthritis and very low level canine cognitive dysfunction (dementia), as well as now being deaf, bless her heart. All Lady's conditions are kept under control with medication, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy and gentle but regular walks and plenty of brain games!
I established Pippa’s Pooches at the beginning of 2018. I only use reward-based training methods, and will never recommend any aversive equipment or techniques for your dog.
There are no behaviours that cannot be trained without using kindness, understanding, treats and/or toys!

I have a Foundation Degree in Applied Canine Behaviour & Training with Bishop Burton University Centre.
Over the three years of studying for this qualification I gained an in-depth knowledge of canine behaviour, body language, the science behind how dog’s learn, their biology, and also the practical side of how to train.
Unlike some qualifications which are animal-generic, mine was fully specific to dogs and therefore gave me the relevant, scientific information that I can now pass on to you!

I'm accredited by the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT)
In order to maintain my accreditation I undertake CPD in the form of courses/webinars/workshops.
I’ve completed multiple over the past few years (too many to list!). And you can be assured I’m committed to keeping on top of the latest training advice and research.

I'm a certified Mantrailing UK instructor
Mantrailing is a passion of mine, I love the variety of the different venues, and the fabulous sense of community that I have with my mantrailing clients. My Working Cocker Artemis loves trailing, when we started in 2023 she was very nervous of people, but thanks to mantrailing she gained confidence in approaching ‘strangers’ and is happy running up to all trail layers now.

I am part of a team of 20 canine professionals at Spaniel Rescue Foundation...
Made up of behaviourists, trainers, vets, vet nurses, groomers, walkers, dieticians and physios, we volunteer our time to provide support to spaniel owners in crisis.
Spaniel specialism
I always knew I wanted to get a Working Cocker Spaniel. I’m fascinated by the breed.
Spaniels have a special place in my heart - I know what it’s like to be owned by one 😅 My lovely girl, Artemis, is not just my dog but also my training partner (and occasional guinea pig!). I’ve learned so much from working with her, she’s my muse, my heart-dog and my soulmate ❤️.
I’ve trained over 100 Spaniels in North Yorkshire so far, and that hands-on experience is something I bring to every session.

I love working with dogs of all breeds and offer both 1:1 and group sessions.
